The concept of "Living Connection" is targeted to homeowners who are 'on the go,' but strive for satisfaction in relaxation at home. The generated concept uses a system of screen panel artifacts distributed around the home, bridging interactions between residing individuals.
Although valuing the fulfillment of household responsibilities, there is also a deeper psychological need for natural characteristics to respond in a design. This inherent need is to find reconciliation of old values with new opportunities. Faith Popcorn's "Cocooning" and Stefano Marzano's "Polycentric Home" concepts - expressing the remapping of living space between leisure and social activities rather than function - were used as the foundation and inspiration for this design.
This project was a 4-month long process, done in a team of 4. Using participatory design methods, the first half was spent understanding the target audience. The second half of the project focused on creating the concept through an iterative process, with video scenarios and participatory design workshops that push the design process further, resulting in the video and process documentation for the concept.
